Day 9 - Sea Day 2 of 5 Before Brazil

Drink of the Day – Desperado

Today we discovered that it does rain in paradise. As a matter of fact it rains a lot. This morning we woke to thick low clouds, fog, and rain. It was gloomy the entire day which was fine. I gave us time to bum a little, see a move (The Other Boleyn Girl), and catch up on a few things. Deedee and Linda did to get some chair time next to the pool. Even with overcast skies, Linda managed to get a little burned on her cheeks. Linda also worked on journaling and scrapping while Jane met with one of the other passengers to show her how to send and receive emails.

This evening the Captain held a special reception for all returning guests. Because there are so many on this trip the reception was held in the ice rink. (Yes, you read that correctly, the ship has an ice rink that can double as a dance floor when the ice is covered). During his speech he mentioned that there were 1,798 passengers onboard (the ship accommodates 3,400 +). Out of the 1,798 passengers, 1,165 have cruised with Royal Caribbean in the past and 800 are doing all three parts including cruising around Cape Horn.

Tomorrow should be a little more exciting as we will be crossing the equator around 3:00. We understand that there will be a Neptune ceremony on the deck as we cross. We hope to have some photos.

  1. Day at Sea in the Atlantic = Gloomy Day
Day on Land in Chicago = Blizzard Warning

At least us in the cold don't have to worry about being out long enough to get sunburn!

Glad you ladies are having fun!

  2. I can't wait to see what kind of animals you learn to make out of towels!! You picked an excellent time to be away as we are all currently waiting for the blizzard that is supposed to hit sometime overnight.
    Enjoy it all!!

Thursday is supposed to be below zero day all day. Linda may not want to ever get off cruise ship. More snow expected Wednesday.
